Perception is the basis of on which we form our thoughts. Through the senses, our surroundings are perceived by many different ways. Many of our perceptions of certain instances are inferred on assumptions of past events that have taken place in our lives. According to Elder, "…we continually make assumptions about ourselves, our jobs, our mates, our students, our children, the world in general"(Critical, para 5, 00). This is obvious in most of our daily lives. These subjective evaluations can sometimes be in the way of thinking objectively about situations that need to be resolved. Because most humans do not know everything, assumptions are an essential part of most productive employees. In many fields, from history to engineering, assumptions are an integral part of most people's thought processes. The emotive aspect of critical thinking lies with the inquisitive state of being. If you are emotionally keyed to think scrupulously about situations, the likelihood of inferring the best solutions is bound to happen.

The language used to evaluate critical thinking is sometimes skewed. Often times people view assuming and inferring as synonymous. The contrast is notable, however. Inferring is based on prior experiences. It is part of cultural beliefs. These subjective thinking styles viewed through sociological lenses are based on assumptions. Assumptions are something we take for granted or presuppose"(Critical, para 7, 00). They are never questioned. Assumptions can be either justified or not, depending on circumstances.

The logical flow of critical thinking is a process containing many elements. A systematic list must be created to analyze each detail of a problem. But before the problem is defined, the parts of thinking must be evaluated. The purpose of solving the problem is the first question. Determining the purpose will give direction and insight to possible alternatives and evaluation. Next, question the problem. Determining the questions that will make you more informed to solving a problem, and so be able to solve it, will be valuable. After the questions are formulated, information on the problem must be gathered. The more information you have on a given problem, the more likely you will be able to find a logical conclusion. After the information is gathered, eliminating irrelevant facts will streamline the process. Also, when dealing with different departments in an organization it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the particular jargon used. Inferences can be made based on technical information and assumptions from past experiences. The point of view taken while analyzing anything will mostly be caught in the balance of some variable such as cost or time.

Critical thinking can be a useful tool for creating solutions to difficult problems. If used correctly a more descriptive path will be made apparent. Critical thinking is an essential part of maintaining companies in today's society.

A boat under a rose

Subconscious Interlude is a painting by Joseph Cusimano. Every person can decode different meanings from a painting. A concealed message is a message that can be seen behind a painting. This message can be interpreted as a happy moment preceding a sad one. Greek people say that a bad thing has something good hidden in it. Even though people can not see this optimistic side directly, life brings it to light as a consequence of endless tears and misery. After facing the problems and the bad moments, man can stand up again on his feet and perceive ideas that he couldn't have done before.

The material of this painting is acrylic on canvas and it was painted in 16. Its is a simple but at the same time a wonderful painting. Its shape is rectangular. Its opposite sides have the same length but the four of them are not equal. The perpendicular sides are longer than the horizontal ones.

The first time that catches your eye is a bog squared frame which captures the three fourths of the whole painting. All the sides of the frame have the same length. The color of the main frame is dark brown. The frame is three-dimensional towards the inside. The top side and the left one of the three-dimensional surface towards the inside have a lighter color, common to dark yellow mixed with light brown and highlights of orange. But the color of the other side is bright yellow. There are shades that separate the two colors and distinguish them from each other. That fact discloses that there is a hidden source of light coming from the upper left of the painting. The warm rays can touch and stroke soft the body skin.

In the frame there is a lonely rose; it seems like a sad queen. If somebody could smell its perfume, a special scent will activate every single nerve in his or her nasal area. The rose is huge; its color is passionate red and the flower has a melancholic look. Its breath is fast and it is crying. Its petals are closed and it seems like it wants to protect itself from something. Somebody could tell that the rose is bleeding inside and its internal feelings are pessimistic. Its strain is small as if somebody tried to root out its heart. It has two leaves and there don't seem to be any thorns. The strain and the leaves have a green color. This rose seems to be harmless and wounded.

Underneath this frame there is a sea which is calm. At the right and at the left side of the painting, dry land appears suddenly in view. Those pieces of mainland consist of iced blue and contours of beige and grey. The air is blowing. It is full of spring and blossoming scents. The sea water is still cold. In the middle of the sea, a boat is sailing. Its color is brown to black. It doesn't seem to have any worries or concerns about anything. Its sails color is yellow and they have little stripes of orange; its image is reflected into the sea. The sails are not inflated. That means that there is no wind and the boat is not in a hurry. It just lets the air sweep it away onto a happy trip.

The background of the painting has a successful exchanging of colors and shadings. At first it begins with a sky-blue tone and the color becomes progressively lighter until it ends above the horizontal line as a pale white. The sea also has different colors and shadings. Below the color is blue mixed with light green highlights and white highlights which probably want to show the foam of the sea. Gradually the color becomes lighter until it reaches the horizontal line as a light sky blue

Old wise Chinese people used to say that a painting equals with a thousand of words. Thousand of words can describe Subconscious Interlude. It is a journey of the mind and the soul through scent, sound, taste, touch, vision. Through the exhalations of the internal world different, new and important ways of facing things are coming up.

Amelie

If you order your custom term paper from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on Amelie. What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. 'Amelie' by Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a charming story about a young woman's quest to help people find happiness by performing small but nonetheless significant acts of kindness. The story begins with the most an even more precise time announcement than in 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' with September rd 176 68pm and seconds being announced by the narrator. The use off such precise timing is unconventional and sets the tone for the rest of the movie and is obviously meant as a tribute to the great Monty Python member Terry Gilliam of whom Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a self-confessed fan. After the audience are given the time and date they are shown three completely unrelated and insignificant events that happened to coincide with the conception of the story's main character Amelie Poulain.

The audience is then whisked away to Amelie's early childhood and are introduced to Amelie's parents Raphael and Amadine Poulain by the narrator, who's swift introduction gives us a brief biography including their occupation, personality and likes and dislikes. Although brief the introduction gives us just enough information we need to understand their actions and is repeated whenever a new character is encountered. In Raphael and Amadine Poulain's case we are told that Raphael is an ex-army doctor who doesn't show his affections physically. Amadine on the other hand is a neurotic schoolteacher. We are also shown that the only physical contact that Amelie has with her father is when he gives Amelie a monthly physical examination, this made Amelie (who like all young girls craved physical attention from her father) very excited, as a result her heart would race and her father diagnosed a heart defect as a result and declared her unfit for school so she was educated at home by Amadine.

Amelie only had one friend during her childhood, a suicidal goldfish called Blubber; Amadine's nerves are soon frayed by Blubber's constant escape attempts and forces Amelie to release Blubber into the wild making Amelie even more lonely than she was before. To compensate for the loss of blubber, Amelie is given a camera, after a day of taking many photos; her next-door neighbour accuses her of causing a car crash, a few days later she realizes that she'd been had and takes revenge by unplugging the offending neighbours TV aerial whenever a goal was about to be scored in a soccer game, this shows us that Amelie was now incredibly aware on how to manipulate the physical world to her advantage, her ability to manipulate the physical world to gain revenge is used again when Amelie, sick of the way Collingnon the greengrocer treats his assistant, breaks into his house and makes a few subtle changes such changing Collingnon's slippers for an identical but smaller pair, setting his alarm clock to 4 am, and swapping his toothpaste for a similarly packaged foot cream, these scenes show, that despite wanting to help as many people as she can, Amelie can also punish people for being cruel to their fellow humans.

The scene where Amelie finds the tin box is very significant in the context of the story because it shows the audience how a seemingly insignificant event with the opportunity to touch someone's life, to Amelie can be much more important than the world famous car crash that took the life of Lady Di, which coincided with the discovery.

The film technique of the beam of light shining on the people that Amelie has helped is used to show that they have truly been touched by Amelie's actions of kindness, and was a very important recurring effect in the film as if to convey the message that an act of kindness, big or small can make someone's day.

The Movie ended with a review of all the people Amelie had helped during the course of just one month and once the director chose to show some insignificant events as Amelie and her new love Nino ride through Paris on a motorbike, The insignificant emphasised the point that all of Amelie's actions would seem small and even useless to some people, but to the people involved they hanged their lives.

Please note that this sample paper on Amelie is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Amelie, we are here to assist you. Marijuana is a drug that is used for many different reasons. It is defined as a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant. Sinsemilla, hashish, and hash oil are stronger forms of marijuana. All forms of marijuana are mind-altering. In other words, they change how the brain works.

There are numerous street names for marijuana. Some are pot, herb, weed, grass, boom, Mary Jane, gangster, or chronic. There are more than 00 slang terms for marijuana.

The physiological and psychological effects of marijuana on the human body and mind can be life altering. The effects of the drug differs from person to person; it depends on the user's experience, how strong the marijuana is (how much THC it has), what the user expects to happen, how it is taken, and whether the user is using any other type of drug simultaneously.

Some people feel nothing at all when they smoke marijuana. Others may feel relaxed or high. Sometimes marijuana makes users feel thirsty and very hungry - an effect called the munchies. Some users can receive bad effects from marijuana. He or she may suffer sudden feelings of anxiety and have paranoid thoughts. This is more likely to happen when a more potent variety of marijuana is used.

Marijuana is usually smoked as a cigarette (known as a joint), in a pipe, or in a bong. Recently it has appeared in cigars called blunts. It can also be cooked and ingested. That is the route of administration of marijuana.

While tolerance to marijuana has never exactly fit the classic definition, some form of tolerance to pot does develop. Regular users of marijuana frequently claim that this tolerance reduces troublesome side effects, such as loss of coordination. They also claim that tolerance to marijuana develops without risk of dependence. Cynics, however, have argued that tolerance to marijuana is proof of dependence, and proof that the drug is too dangerous to be used safely and responsibly.

Between 114-11, states passed laws to outlaw marijuana. Growing tensions between Americans and immigrants caused the use of marijuana to be frowned upon, because the main users of the drug were immigrants. During the local phase of marijuana prohibition, lasting roughly from 114 to 11, every state west of the Mississippi, except for two, had prohibited use of the drug for non-medical purposes. That is the history of the legislation of marijuana.

Marijuana has many medical uses. Medicinal Value Marijuana is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known. No one has ever died from an overdose, and it has a wide variety of therapeutic applications. Relief from nausea and increase of appetite, reduction of intraocular (within the eye) pressure, reduction of muscle spasms, and relief from chronic pain are most of the symptoms that marijuana is used to correct. Marijuana is frequently beneficial in the treatment of the following conditions AIDS, glaucoma, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and chronic pain. Marijuana can reduce the nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by the ailment AIDS and by various AIDS medications. Marijuana can reduce intraocular pressure, thereby alleviating the pain and slowing, and sometimes stopping, the progress of Glaucoma. (Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. It damages vision by increasing eye pressure over time.) Marijuana helps cancer patients by stimulating the appetite and alleviating nausea and vomiting, which are common side effects of chemotherapy treatment. Marijuana can limit the muscle pain and spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis, as well as relieving tremor and unsteadiness of gait. (Multiple sclerosis is the leading cause of neurological disability among young and middle-aged adults in the United States.) Marijuana can prevent epileptic seizures in some patients. Marijuana can alleviate the chronic, often debilitating pain caused by myriad disorders and injuries.

Satire is a literary way in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, wit and sarcasm. The purpose of satire is to bring about the improvement of humanity and human society. Satire is found in many different places. Satire is found in places such as drama, films, plays, music, art and most of all novels. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, and Animal Farm, by George Orwell are wonderful examples of novels that include satire in them. In all three of these novels the authors make use of satirical devices to bring human flaw into focus.

Lord of the Flies satirizes many things in it. Good and evil concerning society is a major issue satirized in the book. Golding helps to show us that even though you may be seen as good, that's not always the case. Everyone has some sort of evil or bad side to him or her. Society is needed to keep the evil of man in order. The fact that the island had no society caused the boys to become somewhat evil. As soon as the "good" English boys were away from their family and society they started acting in a different, more "evil" way. For example, Jack is a nice little choirboy at home. However, when he arrives at the island all he wants is power. He starts acting extremely mean towards everyone else. "The conch doesn't count on top of the mountain so you shut up." (Golding, 4) This shows one of the many times in which Jack ordered around everyone and tried to get more power. By using the topic of good and evil, Golding shows us that human flaw is brought into mind when society disappears.

Brave New World is a novel full of satire, which brings about the flaw of humans. Birth and family are satirized in this book. Birth is considered to be a minor thing. No one considers it to be an important part of life. Therefore everyone has sex with everyone. Of course this causes many births. With all these people being born there is still a lack of family. There are no families or relationships with the people in the World State because everyone was taught this was wrong. The thought of having a mother or father was an insult to the children. "Mother. These are unpleasant facts; I know it. But then most historical facts are unpleasant." (Huxley, 15) Unlike nowadays, the thought of having parents was a horrible thing. In this book Huxley satirizes birth and family to show us what human flaws could end up in the future.

Do my essay on satire in novels CHEAP !

Animal Farm contains satire concerning the events of the Russian Revolution. Throughout the book, Orwell attacks many things such as Stalinism and role in society. During the time of the Russian Revolution, Stalin was the one and only person in charge. Orwell does this in Animal Farm by having Napoleon gain all the power. By doing this he becomes dictator of the farm. All of the animals are supposed to listen to him and follow his orders. Orwell also satirizes role in society in this book. "7. All animals are equal." (Orwell, ) While part of the commandments state that everyone should be treated equal, that's not what actually occurs. Napoleon is treated as leader and the pigs are treated better than the rest of the

animals. During the Russian Revolution when people were also supposed to be treated equally, they weren't. Orwell shows that power can be abused through satirizing the events of the Russian Revolution.

In conclusion, Lord of the Flies, Brave New World, and Animal Farm are wonderful novels that use satire to prove many important points. These satirical novels ridicule all the things that actually make us humans. Golding, Huxley, and Orwell all make good use of satirical devices to bring human flaw into our focus. From reading these novels you get to find out the flaws of human and society. All three of these authors were able to use satire to prove a significant point.

Criteria for Selecting Target Outcomes for the Process-of-Care Investigation

1.Statistically significant outcome differences

It is best to select only outcomes with statistically significant differences between groups for the subsequent investigation of care provision. It is recommended a level of .10 be used except under extenuating circumstances.

If more than three outcomes show significant differences, additional criteria should be applied to narrow the target outcomes to a maximum number of two or three.

Order Custom Selecting Target Outcomes paper

.Larger magnitude of the outcome differences

The magnitude of the differences is assessed by reviewing the actual percentage of patients achieving the outcome in both the current and reference groups.

For example, an outcome difference of two percentage points between groups in terms of hospitalization rates, although possibly statistically significant if sample sizes are large enough, is not as important as a difference of 10 or more percentage points.

Similarly, even if both are statistically significant, an outcome difference of three percentage points for one measure may be more important to an agency than others Improvement in transfers vs. Improvement in shopping.

.Adequate number of cases

At least 0 eligible cases should be represented

4.The actual significance levels of the differences

If an outcome report has no statistically significant differences at the 0.10 level, be aware that the actual significance level is important.

Don't choose a target outcome whose differences are at levels greater than .5; it is simply too probable that there really is no underlying difference between the agency and the comparison population.

5.Importance or relevance to our agency's goals

Review our goals for our program and QI program. What do we want? Do we have a high number of wound care patients? Are we looking at new programs? Are we looking at improving functional status of our patients?

6.Clinical significance

If the outcome difference points to potentially serious clinical problems in quality of care, these outcomes have important clinical ramifications for immediate remediation.

It may also be that the clinical focus is on caring for certain types of patients because of payer mix, the community served, or the nature of referrals.

Depending on the case mix, the agency can focus on specific outcomes perceived to be important for dominant patient types.

Apply the criteria in the order listed above. Statistical significance is a necessary condition for selecting target outcomes. Only in those instances where no outcome differences are statistically significant should an agency pass directly to other criteria in choosing its target outcomes for further investigation. Even in this case, the agency should always examine significance levels and attempt to select as target outcomes those significance levels that are smaller (closer to .10). Focus on large differences rather than small ones. Be sure that at least 0 cases are included in the outcome computation for a potential target outcome. If it appears that a serious problem exists in terms of a particular outcome being markedly inferior, this outcome clearly should be chosen as a target outcome assuming the difference is statistically significant.

Do we select a target outcome from the descriptive or the risk-adjusted sections of the outcome report? Select from either section as long as you follow the criteria above. Because risk adjustment has not been done for the 1 outcomes included in the descriptive report, some additional care will be required when selecting cases for further investigation. There is no reason to exclude these thaough.

What's next? Managers should share the reports with staff as well as the selection of target outcomes and why those were chosen.

Please note that this sample paper on Selecting Target Outcomes is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Selecting Target Outcomes, we are here to assist you. Death is unpredictable as we see well conveyed in this poem "Auto Wreck". This poem is organized into sections by what is transpiring in an accident scene. The poet has most likely taken a personal experience from his own life and described it for us in chilling details. This accident takes place apparently in the dead of the night.

This poem starts with a description of an ambulance rushing to the scene of a crash, hurriedly ministering to the victims and rushing them away to the hospital. "The ambulance at top speed floating down past beacons and illuminated clocks," describes the vehicle speeding through a lighted commercial area with glowing signs, billboards and other such advertisements found on the side of a busy street. Once the ambulance reaches the scene of the accident, the doors are thrown open, the victims quickly placed on stretchers, put in the back of the ambulance and are driven from the carnage. Line 14 "As the doors, an afterthought, are closed." gives us the impression that death did actually occur at the scene, described later in the second stanza.

As the ambulance move away from the scene with the severely injured, we see the uninjured and the minimally injured people walking among the cops. The cops who are busy doing their jobs - taking notes, cleaning up and blocking off the scene of accidents

Sherwood

Write my Essay on AL SHAPIRO'S AUTO WRECH

with lights and yellow tape. Reference is made to the mangled cars as "empty husks of locust, to iron poles," which we all know that locusts leave a perfect shell of their body when they die, which can crumble into many pieces. The author describes the people viewing the crash as feeling like "Our throats were tight as tourniquets," the meaning to this image is that, in their grief, the bystanders throats feel constricted, as if they had a tourniquet around their necks. They might be nauseous because of the shock and are forced to keep their throats tight to forestall vomiting, or they might desire to scream at the pain, and are obligated to remain silent. The people cannot believe what they are seeing and yet, cannot break way, lured to say, by a morbid curiosity. The traffic is slowing moving as the vehicles occupants turn their heads to gawk at the scene in awe of its sick beauty.

Lastly, the final simile is used, "And cancer, simple as a flower, blooms." compares something beautiful and full of life (a flower), with something horrible (a vehicle), an instrument of death. This is a very unusual simile; it is almost an oxymoron. It makes one stop and think. Death is questioned as to who dies next and for what reason.

In the next few lines, one can look for a type of meaning for death stating that war is done by the hands, that involves a level of intent. Suicide has an underlying and silent

cause and stillbirth is logical because a stillborn baby would have had a terrible life of disease or disfiguration. The poet comments on how illogical a car accident is, and makes the point that at least here is some slight reason and warning to cancer, but a deadly collision can occur in a split-second, without warning or reason. In the last stanza,

Sherwood

the poet tries to rationalize death but does not succeed. Rhetorical questions asked could never be answered by logical means, e.g. "Who shall die?" "Who is innocent?" Only an irrational source such as an all-supreme and omniscient being could answer these questions.

In death, there exist strictly irrational causes for the loss of life. Death is an eccentric jungle whose twisted, convoluted, and entangled vines represent the causes of death, which cannot be mapped out mathematically, but can be mapped out by the deranged explorer or sole creator of that jungle, both irrational persons themselves.
