Stars

A star is a luminous globe of gas consisting of mainly hydrogen and helium which produces its own heat by nuclear reaction, stars shine for many billions of years although they have been found to have changed in appearance and size. We can see stars from earth because they are bright and glowing, it is a luminous globe of gas, the temperature rises as dust grains radiate much of the heat, but as it grows denser less of the heat generated can escape and it warms up. When the star is about 10 million degrees Celsius the temperature is very hot, high enough for a nuclear reaction to begin, vast amounts of energy are released, contraction stops and the star shines.

Constellations

As seen from the Earth, all the historic planets are conspicuous naked-eye objects moving in looped paths against the stellar background. The size of these loops, which are caused by the Earths own motion round the Sun, are inversely proportional to the planets distance from the Earth. The constellations are totally imaginary things that poets, farmers and astronomers have made up over the past 6,000 years (and probably even more!). The real purpose for the constellations is to help us tell which stars are which, nothing more. On a really dark night, you can see about 1000 to 1500 stars. Trying to tell which is which is hard. The constellations help by breaking up the sky into more manageable bits. Around the world, farmers know that for most crops, you plant in the spring and harvest in the fall. But in some regions, there is not much differentiation between the seasons. Since different constellations are visible at different times of the year, you can use them to tell what month it is. For example, Scorpius is only visible in the northern hemispheres evening sky in the summer. Some historians suspect that many of the myths associated with the constellations were invented to help the farmers remember them. When they saw certain constellations, they would know it was time to begin the planting or the reaping. The nearest star, Proxima Centurai (part of the Alpha Centurai group) is just over four light years away. The diameter of the orbit of this comet cloud would be about 00,000 Astronomical Units, or two and a half light years.

Day and Night

The earth spins on its axis every 4 hours, the side of the earth nearest to the sun is lit up by the suns light so this side is having daytime, the other side is in darkness so this side is having night time. A day lasts for 1 hours and a night for 1 hours so altogether 4 hours make up day and night. In June and the summer months the days are long and the nights are short whereas in December and the winter months the days are short and the nights long.

In Circus in Town by Sinclair Ross, an eleven-year-old girl called

her dream through an act of imagination. Jenny overcomes her problems

by means of three aspects of her character purity, intelligence, and

optimism.

Through her intelligence, Jenny rises above her disappointment. Her

mother considers Jenny to be a country girl who will live her life on the

farm. "Nothing ahead of her but chickens and cows! Another ten years

Can't you just see the big, gawky know nothing she's going to be?"

(Paragraph 10) Jenny is upset that her mother does not value her learning

achievements in school. However, Jenny encourages herself by

remembering that "She was farther on in school than any other girls her

age." (Paragraph 11) Her intelligence helps her to see herself as a

valuable person by gaining the self-confidence that her mother has

undermined. It is also through her naivety that she accepts her

predicament in a positive way.

Jenny's innocence allows her to see the bright side of her situation.

Although her circumstances do not let her go to the circus, she does not

put blame upon her parents, but rather herself for causing a quarrel

between her mother and father. "A beautiful poster a band and half an

elephant- and she felt exasperated and guilty that there should be a

quarrel about it." (Paragraph ) Jenny is so pure that she forgets the

unpleasant occurrences and criticizes herself for any bad things that

others have done to her. Furthermore, this optimism leads her to achieve

her dream, whether real or unreal.

Jenny is optimistic and uses her imagination to keep her dream

alive. When reality does not allow her go to the circus, she tries to

accomplish her hope instead of just throwing it away. " The circus went

on. All night long she wore her purple tights and went riding Billie round

and round the pasture in them." (Paragraph 4) Jenny uses her

imagination to create her own circus by in an attempt to hold on to her

dream toward realization.

Naivety, intelligence, and optimism are characteristics which help

Jenny to rise above the grim reality of her life on the farm. Her intelligence helps her to remain confident even when her mother

discourages her by saying she will amount to nothing. Against all odds,

she naively believes in making her dream come true. She keeps her

dream alive by remaining optimistic. Jenny has a cheerful disposition

which together with her intelligence and naivety allows her to respond

positively lairdship and disappointment

After going through all the Sonnets, I liked Sonnet 10 the most.

To be frank enough, I found Sonnet 10 a very odd loving poem. Rather than praising his lover, Shakespeare at first seems to be insulting her. According to him, her eyes do not sparkle like the sun, her skin is grayish-brown rather than white, her lips arent very red, her cheeks dont have much color, her hair looks like wires, her breath doesnt smell very good and that the sound of her voice certainly isnt as nice to listen to as music. He also points out that she doesnt float like a goddess; rather she walks on the ground like everyone else but at the end, he tries to illustrate that his love for her remains undiminished.

It is always observed that while writing a love poem, most of the poets tend to idealize and romanticize the one they love. They use all sort of comparisons to show how beautiful or handsome he/she is. But these comparisons aren't realistic. Even if someone really believes that the lover has sparkling eyes, snow-white skin, a charmingly musical voice, . . . etc., these beliefs have nothing to do with love. In turn these seem to be more closely related to blind infatuation. In Sonnet 10, Shakespeare tries to sum up the above-mentioned points in the last two lines wherein he states that the one he loves is as rare as, and therefore as precious as, any of those lovers who have been unrealistically described with false comparisons. He realizes that the one he loves is not perfect but his love for her remains undiminished.

The poem is in the English sonnet form. It contains fourteen lines wherein the first twelve lines are divided into three 4-line quatrains & the last two lines are combined to form a couplet in order to sum up the main theme of the poem. Each line in the Sonnet also consists of 10 Syllables. For Example - My/ mis/ tress/ eyes/ are/ no/ thing/ like/ the/ sun/)& the lines also form an iambic pentametre. The poem also has a rhyming scheme of ABAB CDCD EFEF GG.

Additionally, among all other sonnets, Sonnet 10 consists of mixtures of similes and metaphors used throughout. The entire sonnet forms a series of comparisons. Shakespeare uses metaphor and similes to compare the features of his love to beautiful things they are not like. For Example - In Line 1, he uses a simile to compare the mistress eyes to being Nothing like the sun, in line , he uses a metaphor to illustrate how pale her lips are compared to a coral and so on.

Finally, I can only say that Shakespeare has presented us, a vivid impression of a woman who is foolishly captivated with her relatively poor appearance and the reaction of her love.

Hence due to these reasons, I liked Sonnet 10 the most.

The firm gives training and development as and when it is required. Training is not automatically given and the staff may need to request it when a new client is taken on. A more modern approach being used is Yearly assessment. Some training is also given by team leaders who also give presentations on this. The firm has a specific training department and most of employees' training is done here. This is then hired out to clients as a separate profit-making venture when internal training is not being done. The firm believes development training lacks profit-making opportunities and deem them as unnecessary. The firm practices induction to a point, an induction document is produced and handed out to new employees who are then placed into the office and taught basic needs by existing workers. External courses such as languages are given when seem necessary.

There are positive and negative points about the firm's methods of training and development. With induction, this is when an employee should be introduced to the company, showing them the surroundings and people they will work with. The firm only gives a written document and so may not provide the employee with all the information they need for a successful induction. By showing the employee around, they will feel more relaxed. The firm's centralised training facility has resulted in the saving of lots of money as there is no travelling around to lots of different locations and money is made from hiring it out to clients. The benefits of external courses e.g. languages give workers the chance to enhance their skills. However these courses can prove very costly as accommodation is often needed as well as travel expenses and so the firm has to decide whether these courses are essential or not. These courses are very beneficial for the company and individual. By investing in an employee the firm will develop loyalty which will push down costs in re-recruiting as the employee will want to stay with the firm.

Training and development is important if a company wants to run efficiently and be competitive. It benefits the company and the workers, employees need to develop their skills to increase job satisfaction which produce higher standard work being a bigger asset to a business.

The firm I am investigating is an I.T. firm which is an industry that has developed rapidly and is still a very new industry, so training is constantly needed. The firm tends to train non transferable skills specific to the job, however a developmental course is offered; languages. This is much more transferable but still beneficial.

Please note that this sample paper on training and development is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on training and development, we are here to assist you. One thing that is noticed about Americans is that we are all different. Every one of us has our own unique characteristics. The size of the United States, the climatic areas we live in, and the ethnic mixture of people all contribute to what makes this country what it is today. However, there are a few characteristics that make up the "typical" American.

Most Americans tend to value their individuality. We think of ourselves equal to any other man or woman and we believe we are the makers of our destiny. Americans feel free to speak their minds and express their opinions openly about subjects in which they can reflect on. We tend to be direct in our communications, meaning that when we say yes we mean yes and when we say no we mean no. In a business setting Americans usually try to get right to the point of the subject they are talking about. Americans are very success oriented. We strive ahead to achieve all that we can in our personal and working lives. Whether we are rich or poor, most Americans do not feel that their success in life will be determined by what social class they were born into. Most Americans do not show too much difference or dominance to each other in public situations, however in professional settings this tends to be different.

When first meeting Americans we all seem friendly, usually this means we are pleased to meet you but in the end it may not turn into a glowing friendship. Most of the time we introduce ourselves to others by our first names and we call each other by their first names on an incident if we were to ever meet again, on a more professional level we use titles and last names. Usually when we speak with others we stand about an arms length apart and we never really have to touch one another, except for example, we shake hands when greeting someone.

We always seem to be in a hurry so we may not always have time to stop and shake hands with someone. To the majority of Americans, time is a precious commodity and we try to make the most of it. Also, we organize our schedules so that we can make the most of our day. By doing this, we seem to have so much to do and we are running from one thing to the next and not allowing ourselves to do and enjoy things that we like.

As Americans, we are all different. But in a few ways, we are all "united," so to speak. We all have our own unique individuality. Some characteristics we share with others and some we don't. Whether we are friendly on first acquaintances depends on who we are as a person and whether we are always in hurry or not depends on how much of a "busy body" we really are. But all in all, everyone has those few "typical" characteristics.

Please note that this sample paper on Americans is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Varicella is a fancy name for a common disease, which most of us call chickenpox. Many people believe this is just a mild sickness that can't cause much harm, except for a few red and itchy bumps. However, chickenpox can actually be quite dangerous if not treated properly. In 15, there were a hundred deaths and between 4,000 to ,000 hospitalizations out of the 4 million people who had this disease. It is even scarier to know that most of varicella's victims are young children, ages one to four. So why can this disease be so deadly? If not treated in time, it can cause swelling of the brain, which is extremely fatal.

Chickenpox is an extremely contagious virus. It easily spreads from person to person through the air of an affected person's coughing or sneezing, or by direct contact. A person develops chickenpox 10 to 1 days after having contact with someone who is infected. In addition, the infected person is contagious 1- days before the rash appears and until all the blisters have formed scabs.

A person who has chickenpox will experience irritating symptoms such as a blister-like rash that usually occur on the face, scalp, or trunk. These reddish blisters can be exceedingly itchy and sometimes even painful. An infected person may also experience a high fever, dehydration, or headache. Eventually, the person may develop pneumonia and even swelling of the brain, which could lead to death. Fortunately, there are some successful treatments and preventions for varicella.

Chickenpox can now be prevented by vaccination, which everyone is encouraged to get. However, if a person does get the disease then there are many home treatments and doctor treatments available. For example, the infected person could use Calamine lotion or take Aveeno baths to relieve the itching. They could also take non-aspirin medicine, such as acetaminophen. In addition, a doctor could also prescribe Acyclovir, which is a medicine that works against the herpes virus. However, this medication is for people who are more likely to develop a serious stage of the disease. It is also important to know that a person who has chicken pox should go into treatment if the fever last for more than four days or goes above 10 degrees F.

Numerous people also believe that a person can only get chickenpox once, but that's not always true. Even though it is uncommon, it's still possible that someone can get this disease more than once.

In "Nobody's Fool" and "The Last of the Mohicans", the Hudson Valley's presence is very prominent, though the way it is offered is very different. In Richard Russo's "Nobody's Fool", change and the dysfunctional family are very visible.

The Hudson Valley is very present in both "Nobody's Fool" and "The Last of the Mohicans". In "Nobody's Fool", the Hudson Valley does not physically change but is representative of how many communities are in the Hudson Valley and the people that make them up. You have the local diner, where all the local gossip can be obtained. You have the local watering hole where even better gossip can be obtained, and you have the local businessman, who many may detest, but who employs many of the local towns people.

In "Last of the Mohicans", the Hudson Valley is very present due to the fact that many of the events actually took place there. Due to these events the Hudson Valley changes dramatically.

In the movie "Nobody's Fool", the dysfunctional family is quite prevalent. As is in most cases, a dysfunctional family is usually a result of a dysfunctional family. Sully's parents had a volatile relationship in which he witnessed a childhood of violence and drinking by his father. As a result this seemed to effect his own reactions as an adult, leaving his wife and son and therefore creating another dysfunctional family. As a result of this his own son is having problems with his family, not only does Peter and his wife separate, they separate their two children.

Write my Essay on Comparison of Nobody's Fool an Last of The Mohicans for me

As the storyline went on, you could witness the changing of Sully. Not only did he realize his mistakes as a parent or nonparent, he realized the damage that can be done to the children involved. A significant change and an attempt to break the chain of the dysfunctional family occurred when Sully was quite persistent in telling his son to call his wife at Christmas. Sully's own demons and apprehension of "the old brick house" seemed to ease as his relationship with his son grew.

Characters and settings can change as seen in these two wonderfully selected stories. Some changes can be more obvious than others, but that does not necessarily make them less important to the storyline.
