others have done to her. Furthermore, this optimism leads her to achieve


her dream, whether real or unreal.


Jenny is optimistic and uses her imagination to keep her dream


alive. When reality does not allow her go to the circus, she tries to


accomplish her hope instead of just throwing it away. " The circus went


on. All night long she wore her purple tights and went riding Billie round


and round the pasture in them." (Paragraph 4) Jenny uses her


imagination to create her own circus by in an attempt to hold on to her


dream toward realization.


Naivety, intelligence, and optimism are characteristics which help


Jenny to rise above the grim reality of her life on the farm. Her intelligence helps her to remain confident even when her mother


discourages her by saying she will amount to nothing. Against all odds,


she naively believes in making her dream come true. She keeps her


dream alive by remaining optimistic. Jenny has a cheerful disposition


which together with her intelligence and naivety allows her to respond
