Romeo & Juliet

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is one of the greatest literary examples of human fallibility. In the play, many characters, which include Friar Lawrence, the Montagues, and the Capulets, make seemingly small, absurd mistakes that cost the two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, their lives, proving how erroneous even adults can be.

The irrationality of the Montagues and the Capulets lies in their inability to recognize how their ongoing feud is destroying both them and their enemies. They continue to feud, and put no effort into stopping the feud. Although the quarrels are usually amongst the servants or disgruntled cousins, they still affect the relations between the families. Romeo and Juliet, in love, but not wanting to upset their families and spark another fuse, marry in secret. This is where the trouble begins. All goes well until Juliet's parents inform her she is engaged to Paris, a friend of the Prince of Verona. However, as we know, one can't marry two people.

Write your Romeo and Juliet research paper

Desperately seeking help, she goes to Friar Lawrence, who suggests she fake her death, a plan that seems doomed from the start. He gives her a potion which will cause her to appear dead while Friar Lawrence sends for Romeo, who is in exile after killing a Capulet, Juliet's cousin. However, Romeo's serving man spots her and assumes she has died, which is, as we know, not true. He rushes to Romeo before the Friar can send for him. Romeo arrives at her tomb and meets up with Paris. They duel, and Paris is slain. Romeo, under the false assumption that Juliet is dead, leaving him no purpose in life, kills himself. Juliet awakens shortly after to find both Paris and Romeo dead. She, too, takes her own life.

If this story does not prove human fallibility, nothing does. However, interestingly enough, while the above mistakes do cause the death of Romeo and Juliet, they lead to the reconciliation of former strife between the houses of Montague and Capulet. However, I'm sure that the parents would rather have their two children back and alive; peace would come later.

The Hundred Years War is one of the most famous wars that took place in Europe. The war lasted from 17 until 145 with the English and the French fighting against each other.

The Hundred Years War started when Edward III, the English king, boldly sent a claim to the French throne. The French of course did not allow Edward III to become ruler of France, but instead chose Charles IVs cousin, Philip VI, to rule France.

There were many causes of the Hundred Years War. Not only did Edward III send a claim to the French throne, but England and France were developing countries that were too close to each other. England also had many large French territories from the king of France. Edward III claimed the provinces of Aquitaine and Gascony in France. The French hated the idea of the English owning their land because it wouldnt allow France to unify. France and England were also constantly arguing over the control of the fertile area of Flanders. Although Flanders was a French fief, it was also subject to domestic influence from England because its main industry, manufactured cloth, depended on imported English wool. Adding to these bad feeling between the two countries was a history of prejudice and hatred towards each other.

In the Hundred Years War both sides had some advantages that helped them fight the war. The French had three times the population of England, had more money than England, and never had to leave home to fight a battle. Although France had these many strengths, they were no match to the English longbow. The arrow of the longbow could pierce through armor and four inches of wood. The longbow is what led Henry V to his victory in Agincourt. Not only did England have an excellent weapon, but a superior military. Frances losses reflected English military superiority. The English infantry was far more disciplined than the French. The English had far better kings and rulers than France. The English kings were intelligent. The French kings were no match for the English rulers.

Pg. 17 "Calgary am"

I appreciated how this one got straight to the point, and utilized words that you would associate to only certain definitions in a totally opposite manner. Like

"in spite of being starvedstarved almost to death

for greenness and warmth flowers and birds"

Custom writing service can write essays on 5 Poems I liked

he use starved, a word that you would associate with hunger for food, but in a way that he hungered for the cold to be over, the snow to be gone, the night to be day, and the dull and dreary to be colorful and full of life.

Pg. 18 "Crazy Times"

This one I just thought was fairly clever, I mean it related pretty much opposites in a way that made your mind think that if this were true, it would be nuts, everything you have come to expect, would be different. Then again maybe this is what its like when you are older and telling stories to your grandchildren about when you were their age.

Pg. 01 "I Believe"

Now this is a short, classic poem, of the poetic stating exactly what he/she believes, and that's what makes it appealing to me, because I can relate and understand exactly what he is saying. It is mainly the fact that I do not have to interpret or boggle my mind to find out what he is trying to tell me.

Pg. 1 "Subway Exit Spring"

This, this is one poem that well is not the hardest to write let me tell you, but is appealing to me because of the way the author used his space on the page, to for steps/an escalator which is mentioned in the poem about of every mourning he is reminded of how beautiful the spring is by rising out of the ground with little effort.

Pg. 17 "Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep"

This poem makes you think, about your beliefs, your religion. This might be a controversial poem for some people to read if they have different beliefs than the poet, but I believe, after I read this poem, that everything he is saying is close to true, I mean why do people go and weep at graves? Why not anywhere else, a place where that person was a lot, their room? Why at their graves, I mean that's where their body is, but their mind and spirit are no longer.

Attention Mr. Carlos M. Gomez, General Manager

Re Damaged shipment; Refer to Invoice A-0510

Dear Mr. Gomez,

I was please to receive today, 15 July-0, my order, invoice A-0510, for the Compaq Presario 500 computer for my home office.

One of the three boxes received was physically damaged during transit. The box itself was smashed in on one side (pictures enclosed) and upon opening the package to examine the contents I discovered a deep cut on the display monitor's screen (pictures enclosed). I assembled the unit and also found that the monitor does not turn on. I called your Customer Support Center and was advised to drop the unit off for a trouble-shooting diagnostics at one of your centers. This was done, their conclusion was that the monitor is damaged and since the unit is under warranty a repair notice would be initiated with my authorization.

I do not wish to have this unit repaired, my warranty agreement under the section "Limitations of Liability" states that damage to hardware while in transit would be the responsibility of the manufacturer, but the buyer could opt for repairs, as I have stated, I do not want the damaged monitor repaired, I would like to have it replaced with a new unit.

I would also like to note that the delivery on this computer was three months late, I contacted your office several times during the three month period and was given many different excuses, bottom line, you did not hold true to your customer expected delivery date. Because of these aforementioned inconveniences, again, I would like to stress that I prefer to have to the damage monitor replaced with a new one as soon as possible. Please contact me to confirm the date in which I will receive the new unit.

Sincerely yours,

Micah D. Perrotta

The musical instrument in which wind is supplied to one or more reed-sounded pipes from a bag inflated by the performer, either through a blowpipe or by means of a bellows is called the bagpipes. The wind supply is continuous; therefore meaning the pipes can not be silent. Repeated notes are articulated by means of inserting grace notes between them. Grace notes are short decorative notes, along with doublings, toarluaths, leumluaths, grips, and echo beats. These can be practiced by playing a practice chanter. A practice chanter is a chanter that you would use to practice with before playing on the bagpipes. The Scottish Highland Bagpipes, in Gaelic piob mhor (the Great Pipe),date as far back as 140. they contain a leather bag, a conical-bore blowpipe, double reeded chanter, single reeded bass drone, and two single reeded tenor drones. There are nine notes to the pipes scale as those are the only ones playable. When you start playing, you learn different piping styles. The piping styles are marches, strathspeys, hornpipes, jigs, reels, dirges, aires, and piobaireachd. When you pick up the pipes, you are required to keep a constant pressure inside the bag. Failure to do this can result in the pipes being impossible to tune due to the horrible noise that drives people crazy. The bagpipes are tuned to a 464 Hz A rather than the standard 440 Hz. When playing the bagpipes in a competition or a concert as an individual or in a pipe band, it is common to wear highland dress. Highland dress consists of headdress (feather bonnet, glengarry, balmoral, caubeen(depending on wear you are)), tartan with brooch (regimental or clan color scheme), tunic (doublets), tunic belt (black for pipers, white for drummers both with a silver buckle), kilt (regimental or clan color scheme (usually nothing is worn underneath)), sporran with chain strap (either hair or leather), socks (hose tops or full hose), flashes and garters (worn at the top of the socks), shoes (boots and spats with hose tops or brogues with full hose).

WHAT WENT WRONG

What ever happened to the time we spent together. When I was with you it felt liked we were the only two people in the world. I would spend every moment of every day wishing I was with you. I never wanted to open my eyes because I saw your face every time I closed them. I thought you were the person that would end my seemingly endless search, my search to find true love. The thought of seeing you made me smile, the sight of you made my heart melt, your wonderful touch sent chills down my spine. Then one day it all ended. The one thing I valued most was gone. What ever happened to the times we shared, the laughs, the talks and everything that we ever shared. When you were gone I realized something, that I loved you. I loved you more than anything or anyone else ever before, and more than anyone that will come into my life ever again. It may seem stupid but I think you are the one, that girl that was meant for me. I found you, but I don't have you, and every time I see you I think about that and it hurts. Its been a while since we've talked at length about anything, we've become very distant friends, and after three months of little contact I still love you. Your still the prize, your still the only thing I wish for. This was the worst Christmas I've ever had, because you are all that I wanted and knew I wasn't going to get you. I wish that for one day I could go back to one of those days when it was just you and me. We never ran out of things to say, and we never talked about sex. With you sex wasn't important, it wasn't a factor, I just wanted to be with you. I loved you, and I still do. I haven't begun to get over you, and I don't want to, I still feel you're the one, and I realize that I shouldn't have given up on you so easy. I thought I would be able to get over you, fall out of love. But I was wrong, true love never dies. And I really truly love you with all of my heart, and hope and pray every night that one day we will be together. Until that day I just want to say I love you truly , honestly and with all of my heart.
