Ultimately, the drug problem does not concern only a few illicit drug takers. Every American who pays taxes for the requisite police state, who knows someone harmed by drinking or smoking, who cares about his freedom to behave as he chooses will be affected by the current policy. After a review of the major arguments and evidence, the drug problem will appear to be aggravated and usually caused by drug criminalization. The repercussions of the current policy and social attitudes lead quickly to authoritarianism.
